Today we had the Site com Café (Homebrew Website Club Curitiba) #14 meeting at Go Coffee Botânica. I arrived a little bit early with Débora Venâncio, and soon Rodrigo Ghedin joined us. We talked a little about some things that we’re excited about, like an EezBotFun 8-key MacroPad that I bought a couple of weeks ago, how I’m using Claude to fix grammar mistakes in my newsletter (in Portuguese), and how Rodrigo is using Claude to analyze and improve his websites, especially to help with the boring but necessary things.

After this, each one of us shared what we wanted to do during the meeting:

  • Rodrigo: Use Claude to analyze his personal website, built with Jekyll, to identify and fix issues and suggest improvements without changing the layout.
  • Débora: Make some changes to the layout, like adding a search to the header, changing the single and archive post structure, and some other items.
  • Daniel: Update my now page and create a page for the talks that I’ve given, inspired by Rafael Funchal’s talks page, which he recently created and shared on LinkedIn.

I ordered a salted caramel frappe again (my favorite) and a grilled cheese and ham sandwich, and both were delicious (I forgot to take pictures). I helped Débora with some of the changes, because even though WordPress Block Themes are very powerful and flexible, they are not very intuitive. After I showed her some of the tricks that I painfully learned after trying to do this multiple times, she continued the process on her own.

Leonardo Bora arrived after that, and we talked about his trip to the Open Source Summit Europe in Prague, creating a personal site for him, and using it as a backup for his LinkedIn newsletter and profile. Thanks for the notebook and pencil case, Leonardo!

This time I spent most of the event just talking with everyone. I only started updating my now page and didn’t finish it (I’ll do that after this post), which is fine. I don’t expect myself, or anyone else, to follow an agenda just because we set one, since I know that sharing ideas in person is one of the best things about these events.

I think this is the first time that I’ve posted about the event on the same day! The next one will be on November 14, see you there!
