I’ve been using Firefox as my main browser for a lot of years (including on my smartphone, where I use Firefox Focus), but lately it feels like using it is very slow, specially with a lot of browsers open, and the same issue happens with some websites too (Google products and others). I also have a hunch that my problems with the WordPress block editor being laggy while I typed is browser related too. I also want to try some new things (like WebMCP or the WordPress browser extension) that are available first on Chrome.

So, starting today I will start using Google Chrome as my main browser.

One of the first things I wanted to do was to move the tabs to the sidebar. This required to enable Vertical Tabs in the Experiments settings, restarting the browser and clicking in one of the tabs and selecting Show tabs vertically. I haven’t found a setting to move this sidebar to the right side (which is what I use in Firefox), and I don’t want to install an extension just for that, so I’ll try to get used to this.

Besides this, I installed some extensions, like OneTab (which was really useful to migrate all open tabs from one browser to another), Joplin Web Clipper and Bitwarden. And as an additional experiment I added the Reading Mode icon at the top to see if this could be helpful for some sites with a lot of advertisements.

Let’s see how this goes, but I’m already happy that I can type this post in the block editor without any noticeable lag (to be fair, this post is small, so it probably won’t have this issue).
